Since the last page was all about YOU, this one is all about me. Here’s where I give you the nitty-gritty details which, in turn, give you confidence in my abilities. Since we’re just starting off, I’ll give you the work-related basics and hopefully we’ll have the opportunity to get to know each other a bit better in the near future. First of all, I have 11 years of varied administrative experience. Just over half of that time has been spent in the broadcasting field, working for both the Canadian Association of Broadcasters as well as the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council. At the CAB, I really got around, so to speak, starting out as Receptionist and then quickly moving up to Administrative Assistant positions in their Radio, Television, Specialty & Pay Services, Marketing & Member Services and Public Affairs departments, as well as working in the all-encompassing General Assistant position for some time. By working for nearly all of the company’s possible departments in various capacities, I really gained insight from the bottom up and learned to work with all levels of management and personality types. I learned to handle large workloads and tight deadlines and adaptability quickly became one of my key traits. At the CBSC, I worked as an Administrative Assistant and Correspondence Officer, taking complaints from television viewers and radio listeners and responding courteously, no matter how upset some may have been. Although dealing with an offended public could be challenging at times, patience and listening quickly became the skills I most relied on to get the job done. And I found out that it really is true that if you give respect, you get it back. Prior to that, I worked for British Telecom Mobile as a Clerical Officer in their Debt Prevention department, analyzing customer accounts and barring their cell phones, if necessary. The lesson learned here is to always remember to pay your bills on time! And finally, I gained my first office experience as Front Desk Coordinator for Bradson Staffing Services, where in addition to manning a hectic switchboard, I would quell nervous job-seekers’ fears while simultaneously giving them arduous typing and computer tests. I learned too many things to count here, since after all, it was my first time working in an office. From learning how to work computers to how to deal with the public, I jumped in feet first and with time and patience, took control of a busy job with many facets. In fact, by the time I left, not one, but two people had to be hired to replace me. In addition to my extensive office experience, I have successfully completed Interior Decorating and Managing Your Own Business courses, both with highest honours. My all-important life experience includes living in England three times - once for school and twice for work and travel. So, to summarize, I like to learn new things, I like variety and I like to take on new challenges - all imperative qualities of a great Virtual Assistant. And, since I’m now also the owner of my own company, I can relate to your challenges of running a business and making it succeed. So, by helping you, you help me in return and it turns into a real partnership filled with success on all levels...and who can say no to success? |
